About the Music Makers of Milton Keynes

Music Makers of Milton Keynes was formed in 1985 to continue the tradition of producing operettas which, at the time, were becoming less popular with other performing groups in the area.

We are affiliated to NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, which was founded in 1899 to protect and advance the interests of operatic and dramatic art, and the societies involved in it. Music Makers of Milton Keynes produce a series of concerts every year, as well as occasional runs of fully costumed shows.

Our last full production, Carmen, won the 2004 Noda award for the best musical production in the midlands area.

Music Makers is a voluntary organisation managed by an elected committee. Our constitution and our equal opportunities policy can be downloaded by clicking the links on the left.

We welcome new members, so if you have ever thought about taking up singing as your hobby we would love to hear from you. You don't need to be the new Pavarotti - just able to make a reasonably pleasant sound and able to hold a tune! You also won't be asked to do a formal audition to join the chorus. But the Musical Director will ask you to sing a few lines in private so he can check your voice range and place you in the right part of the chorus. Don’t worry - this will only happen after you've had a chance to settle into the society. If you'd like to be part of the society but would rather not sing, then we always need people to help out with front of house, refreshments, playing the piano and all the other essential things that help the society to function.

We have a thriving Patron's group, to whom we are extremely grateful for their continuing support. If you do not have the opportunity to support us by direct involvement with our productions, perhaps you would like to become a Patron.  There is more information on our Patron's page
